Wonder

R.J. Palacio
Status: borrowed

I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.

"August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?

R. J. Palacio has written a spare, warm, uplifting story that will have readers laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. With wonderfully realistic family interactions (flawed, but loving), lively school scenes, and short chapters, Wonder is accessible to readers of all levels."

Wonder came to me when some of my friends were reading it to train for an academic competition.
I had known a little bit about the book, how it was about a boy with severe facial deformity, ect.

When a friend of mine offered for me to borrow it for my blog, I immediately snapped it up and read it in less than three hours. So, by my last comment you understand that this book is really short( to me )In that short amount of time, I discovered the life of a ten year old boy with facial deformity.

August Pullman is starting school for the first time. He not only has to worry about teachers and homework, but how people react to him. This story tells of a year full of action, sadness, and life. One interesting part of the story is that it has six points of view: August, his sister Via, her boyfriend Justin, Via's friend Miranda, and his classmates and friends, Jack and Summer. I don't really like Justin's section because it had lots of typos and didn't really contribute to the story. This story made me teary eyed a many parts of the story because of the discrimination August faces. I can't believe that kids would go as far to ignore him because his face looks different. this story taught me a lesson to get to know people first before judging them.Anyway I loved this book and it has earned a spot on my favorites book shelve. Love and Kisses,
